Vinyl Soul is an organization about buying and selling vinyl records, and sharing some articles about vinyl records.

The goal of Vinyl Soul is helping vinyl record lovers to find and match more records which they like.

Problem Statement:

Many vinyl collectors are hard to find the classic vinyl records which they are looking for and don’t have professional knowledge about the vinyl records.

Conclusion: I create a website for updating articles about vinyl records every month, and provides a list of recommend records for every customer. People can find the rare records from other collectors.

I interviewed 29 people that all of them like vinyl records, they have different job and social experiences in different age group.

USER TESTING

Feedback | Low-fidelity Wireframes

1. As a vinyl record collector, I need a wantlist to collect the records.
2. Add to Cart button is too small, that’s hard to recognize.
3. Features page look’s a little wired that no author name for each article.
4. I love the recommended list part, but it is hard to track my eye, can you make it more obviously?

Feedback | User Flow

I did user testing on the high-fidelity wireframes for app and website prototype to test the whole user flow, and I got the following feedbacks:
1. I love your clear and clean style, but I think you could make your fonts which on the button more bold.
2. I think your prototype very clear, it’s easy to know how to use it.
3. It’s cool, I like it. I totally know how to use.

Feedback | High-fidelity Wireframes

Before: The log in page looks a little empty, maybe you can add something here, and I think this page is unnecessary.

After: I make it return to the previous section and change the color of the top part.

Before: I don’t know how to go to the shop page?

After: Change the color of the view more button, make it looks more obviously.

Summary Takeaway

Vinyl Soul is a good way to learn about vinyl knowledge and is a friendly for every record lovers whether he or she is a beginner or an advanced lover.

How to Project Grows

At the beginning of the project, I conducted a lot of user research and analysis to find out the pain points of the vinyl record lovers and find out the solutions. In the design process, the user testing is carried out continuously to improve the feasibility and usability of the project. I believe that a successful project needs continuous testing and research.

What I Learned

In the process of completing the project, I gradually realized the importance of user research. All of our designs are people-oriented, and all designs should start from users to solve their pain points.
